Guard Chris Smith matched his personal best with 19 points to go over 1,000 for his career as Louisville beat IUPUI 90-60
for the Cardinals’ 16th
straight home victory. Forward Gorgui Dieng hit all eight of his shots to set a career high with 18 points to go along with 12 rebounds as the Cardinals started 8-0 for the second straight season. Louisville hosts Fairleigh Dickinson on Dec. 10 at 4 p.m.
DePaul captured a 69-58 victory at Loyola (Ill.) as forward Moses Morgan led the way with 13 points while forward Krys Faber added 12 points and eight rebounds. Guard Jeremiah Kelly and forward Jamee Crockett each posted 11 points. DePaul opened up a 47-17 lead just before halftime and extended its lead to 33 points early in the second half. Loyola then launched a comeback with a 17-0 run. The Ramblers got within nine in the final minute, but no closer. DePaul returns to action against Chicago State on Dec. 10 at 2 p.m.
Rutgers lost to Princeton 59-57 after trailing by 17 points with under eight minutes to play. The Tigers hit a shot with three seconds to play to take the lead and secure the victory. Guard Eli Carter had 17 points and sparked a comeback. Princeton had its largest lead at 49-32 with 7:58 remaining and led 52-37 when Carter scored seven straight, igniting a 15-0 run that tied it with 2:33 left. The Scarlet Knights host Monmouth on Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday’s BIG EAST schedule lists four games. In a match between two ranked teams, No. 9/9 Connecticut hosts No. 24/25 Harvard at 7 p.m. Providence hosts Boston College at 7 p.m. while Notre Dame hosts Maine at 7:30. West Virginia takes on Kansas State at 9 p.m. as part of the Wichita Wildcat Classic. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
