Seton Hall improved to 8-1 with a
68-54 decision over Wake Forest. Forward Herb Pope continued his impressive production with game highs of 26 points and 14 rebounds.
Providence had to come from behind to defeat in-state opponent Bryant 72-61 behind Bryce Cotton’s 34 points. LaDonte Henton posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Georgetown jumped to a 17-0 lead over Howard before winning 62-48. Otto Porter led the Hoyas with 13 points and 4 rebounds while Hollis Thompson and Jason Clark each added 12 points.
Dion Waiters had 19 points and six steals, both career highs, as unbeaten Syracuse defeated George Washington 85-50. Kris Joseph had nine points and eight rebounds as Scoop Jardine, Brandon Triche, Fab Melo, and C.J. Fair each scored eight for the Orange.
At Madison Square Garden in New York, Pittsburgh’s record improved to 9-1 with a
74-68 win over Oklahoma State. Forward Nasir Robinson had 15 points and six rebounds. Louisville handled Fairleigh Dickinson 80-58. Gorgui Dieng finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds in only 22 minutes of play.
West Virginia outscored Miami (Fla.) 42-29 in the second half in its 77-66 win over the Hurricanes. Darryl Bryant led the Mountaineers with 27 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Notre Dame defeated Dartmouth 65-47 on the strength of 22 points and nine rebounds by Jack Cooley.
Sunday’s schedule includes only one game. USF tries to halt a two-game losing streak when it hosts Florida A&M at the University of Tampa.
