No. 2/2 Connecticut defeated the College of Charleston 72-24 on the road on Dec. 21. Charleston’s 24 points were just four away from the best defensive effort ever by the Huskies. UConn leads the nation in scoring defense at 43.3 ppg.
RACE TO 500
DePaul head coach Doug Bruno and West Virginia head coach Mike Carey both need one win to record 500 career victories. Bruno has compiled a 499-273 (.646) record in 26 seasons. Carey, in his 24th season, has amassed a record of 499-222 (.692).
HOYAS UPSET MIAMI
Georgetown defeated No. 7/7 Miami 71-46 on Dec. 21. The Hoyas held Miami to a season-low 46 points as well as a season-low 20.6 percent shooting from the field. The Hurricanes had three players averaging more than 12.0 ppg, but the Blue & Gray held Miami to its lowest point total since the 2008-09 season.
