It was the lowest (combined) scoring game in BIG EAST tournament history with a combined 71 points. The previous low was 87 points set on two occasions (2005 and 2002.) (p. 114 of the tournament record book).
Georgetown tied the record for fewest points scored in a BIG EAST tournament game (32) also set by Villanova against Rutgers on March 5, 2000 (p. 213).
WVU junior Asya Bussie entered the game needing three points for 1,000 in her career. She accomplished the feat midway through the first half as she converted a free throw. Bussie has 1,006 points for her career.
GU scored a season-low 12 points in the first half, while WVU scored a season-low 15 points.
GU missed its last 19 attempts of the first half.
It was the seventh time in tournament history a team was held under 40 points; first game that both fell shy of 40.
It was the second-lowest combined first-half point-total by two teams (27) in the BIG EAST tournament. The lowest is 26 combined points set between Notre Dame (13) and Villanova (13) on March 9, 2003. (p. 221).
WVU advanced to the semifinals of the BIG EAST tournament for the fifth time in an even number year joining (2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012).
