Six WBB Stars Selected in the WNBA Draft

BRISTOL, Conn. – Six BIG EAST women’s basketball players were selected in the 2012 WNBA Draft held on Monday afternoon at ESPN, including No. 3 overall pick Devereaux Peters. The Irish forward was selected by the Minnesota Lynx and became the highest drafted player in school history. Peters was joined by teammate Natalie Novosel who went No. 8 overall by the Washington Mystics.

It was the first time the Fighting Irish had two players selected in the top-10.

UConn guard Tiffany Hayes was chosen with the second pick in the Second Round, No. 14 overall, by the Atlanta Dream. Rutgers guard Khadijah Rushdan was chosen with the third pick in the Second Round, No. 15 overall, by the Los Angeles Sparks. DePaul forward Keisha Hampton was picked with the 10th selection in the Second Round, No. 22 overall, by the Seattle Storm.

In the Third Round, Rutgers guard April Sykes was picked No. 28 overall, by the Los Angeles Sparks.
