BIG EAST Conference women’s basketball will have seven appearances on Big Monday this season, televised on ESPN2. The Big Monday coverage will start on Jan. 21, when Connecticut hosts Duke at 7 p.m. ET. The Blue Devils will be looking for revenge, after Connecticut snapped their 34-game home winning streak with a 61-45 victory in Durham on Jan. 30 last season.
Notre Dame will play at Tennessee on Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. In last year’s contest, the Irish held the Lady Vols to only 44 points, posting a 72-44 win. At the time, Notre Dame was ranked No. 2 in the country and Tennessee was ranked No. 7.
The first of two Big Monday BIG EAST conference games will be played on Feb. 11, when Louisville plays at Notre Dame at 9 p.m. The two teams last met on Feb. 20, when the Irish used a second-half surge to defeat the Cardinals 68-52 at the KFC Yum! Center.
On Feb. 18, Connecticut will host Baylor at 9 p.m. The Huskies lost to Baylor in December of last year by five points in Waco, Texas. The Bears went on to post a 40-0 record and win the NCAA title. In their last matchup at UConn, the Huskies won 65-64 on Nov. 16, 2010 and earned their 80th consecutive victory.
The second Big Monday league game will be played on March 4, with Connecticut matching up against Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., at 7 p.m. in the regular-season finale. The Huskies and Fighting Irish met four times last year. Notre Dame won both regular season games, but Connecticut defeated the Irish in the BIG EAST Championship title game. The teams met again in the NCAA Final Four and, for the second-straight year, ND was able to pull out the win to advance to the title game.
