Updated BIG EAST Field Hockey Notes and Statistics
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Connecticut’s Chloe Hunnable was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and Syracuse’s Jordan Page earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors for Week 6. The sophomores helped No. 5 Connecticut and No. 1 Syracuse remain the only undefeated teams in Division I field hockey.
Hunnable took Offensive Player of the Week honors after tallying six points in a 2-0 week for the Huskies. Connecticut beat league opponent Providence 4-2 on Sept. 28 and No. 12 Boston University in Allston 3-2 on Sept. 30. Hunnable recorded one goal and one assist in each win. The sophomore forward leads the Huskies with 25 points this season.
Page earned defensive accolades after shutting out BIG EAST opponent Louisville 3-0 and Yale 5-0. The sophomore back led a defensive line that allowed just one penalty corner and two shots against Yale. The Orange defended their No. 1 ranking this week to advance to 11-0 and 3-0 in BIG EAST play.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Louisa Boddy, Connecticut, GS, B
Boddy tallied seven points in a 4-2 win over Providence and 3-2 win over No. 12 Boston University.
Alex Diekmann, Villanova, Jr., GK
Diekmann recorded eleven saves in a 2-1 win over Rutgers; Allowed just two goals in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats.
Lisa Patrone, Rutgers, Jr., F
Patrone scored the gamewinner in overtime and had two assists in a 4-3 win over Bucknell.
Gillian Pinder, Syracuse, Fr., M
Pinder scored two goals and assisted on another in a 5-0 victory over Yale.
Jessica Swoboda, Villanova, So., F
Swoboda assisted on the gamewinner in a 2-1 victory over Rutgers and scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over Bryant.
