Women's Soccer Minute – Wednesday Windup

AS GOOD AS GOLD – Rutgers women’s soccer standout Carli Lloyd (pictured above) returns to Yurcak Field on Friday, Oct. 12 for an Olympic gold medal reception at halftime of the women’s soccer match vs. Louisville (5:30 p.m.).

 

CORBOZ GETS ADDITIONAL HONORS – Georgetown sophomore Daphne Corboz, who was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, picked up another award on Wednesday as she was tabbed the Disney Soccer/NSCAA Player of the Week. She also will be recognized during NSCAA College Game of the Week broadcast on FOX Soccer on Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. ET. Corboz had 11 points, including five goals in an 8-0 win at Pittsburgh on Sept. 30.

 

NATIONAL POLLS – Georgetown remained No. 11 in the SoccerAmerica poll released on Oct. 3, tied for its highest ranking in school history. The Hoyas are one of three league teams in the national poll, along with Marquette at No. 15 and Notre Dame at No. 25.

 

TV TIME – In a clash of National Division powers, Louisville (7-3-2) hosts No. 14/11 Georgetown (11-1-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network. The Cardinals lead the all-time series 4-3-0 and won last year’s meeting 2-1 in double-overtime in Washington, D.C. Christine Exeter scored both goals for the Cards. The CBS Sports Network can be found on DirecTV 613 and Dish Network 158.
