Rutgers and Temple renew a rivalry that began in 1948 and saw annual meetings between 1977 and 2004 … Rutgers holds a 19-15 series lead and won the last two matchups … Saturday’s game will be just the second to be played in Lincoln Financial Field … Rutgers was a 30-14 winner at the Linc in 2003 … Rutgers is 9-5 against Temple in BIG EAST games … Temple’s last  win in the series was a 20-17 decision in Piscataway, N.J., in 2002.

Rutgers is 6-0 for the first time since 2006 after a 23-15 win against Syracuse last Saturday … The Scarlet Knights have won seven straight, dating to last year’s victory against Iowa State in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, and have the nation’s sixth-longest active winning streak … Rutgers is looking for its second 4-0 start in BIG EAST play in school history (2006) … Kyle Flood is the only first-year head coach in the nation to win his first six games this season … The Scarlet Knights rank second nationally in rushing defense (60.8 ypg), less than a year after they finished seventh in the BIG EAST in that category … Rutgers is third nationally in scoring defense (11.5 ppg) … RB Jawan Jamison leads the BIG EAST in rushing at 110.8 yards per game … Jamison saw a streak of six straight 100-yard games snapped last Saturday against Syracuse … QB Gary Nova has thrown for 1,286 yards and 11 touchdowns with four interceptions … LB Khaseem Greene — the 2011 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, leads the team with 63 tackles to go with 3.5 sacks, 5.5 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and two interceptions … Greene’s four forced fumbles tie him for the national lead … Rutgers leads the nation in turnover margin (+2.17 per game).

Temple is 2-0 in BIG EAST play for the first time in league history after last week’s 17-14 overtime win at Connecticut … Coupled with a 37-28 win against USF Oct. 6, the Owls have won consecutive BIG EAST games for the first time … The Owls rank eighth in the BIG EAST in total offense, averaging 309.2 yards per game, but are fourth in the league in scoring (27.0 ppg) … Temple ranks second in the BIG EAST in rushing at 176.8 yards per game … RB Montel Harris has turned in back-to-back 100-yard games and is averaging 77.5 rushing yards per game … QB Chris Coyer has rushed for 302 yards and two TDs and has thrown six touchdown passes … LB Trevor Matakevitch made 15 tackles against USF is his first career start and followed that effort with 19 tackles against Connecticut  — the most by a BIG EAST player in a game this season … K/P Brandon McManus has made 8 of 10 field goal attempts and is the team’s leading scorer with 39 points … McManus also leads the conference in punting at 44.9 yards per punt.
