PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Marquette senior Holly Mertens was named BIG EAST Volleyball Player of the Week as the Golden Eagles went 3-0 in week 10. Freshman Taylor Morey of Notre Dame was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for her performance in two wins.
Mertens played a significant role in Marquette’s 3-0 week with wins over Milwaukee, Connecticut and St. John’s. The senior recorded double-digit kills in all three matches, averaging 4.64 per set. In 81 total attempts, she recorded 51 kills and eight errors for a .543 hitting percentage. Mertens also totaled 13 blocks during the week for an average of 1.18 per set. In the 3-1 win against St. John’s on No. 4, the senior hit .714 with 21 kills and one error in 28 attempts.
Morey and the Irish went 2-0 last week with wins over Seton Hall and Rutgers. She recorded 21 digs in four sets and dished out seven assists against the Pirates on Nov. 3 and followed that up with a 23-dig, eight-assist performance in a 3-1 win against the Scarlet Knights on Nov. 4. The freshman averaged 5.50 digs per set in two matches.

Scott averaged 4.22 kills and 2.67 digs per set in a 2-1 week; notched a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs against Villanova on Nov. 4.

Arslanbekova averaged 5.33 kills and 3.33 digs per set in a 2-0 week; hit .459 with 21 kills, nine digs and four blocks against Georgetown on Nov.4.
Maggie Brindock, Notre Dame, Jr., S
Brindock averaged 2.0 kills, 11.12 assists, 2.75 digs and 0.88 blocks in a 2-0 week; recorded a triple-double with 12 kills, 38 assists and 11 digs against Rutgers on Nov. 4.
Shelbey Manthorpe, Seton Hall, So., S
Manthorpe averaged 2.57 kills, 7.57 assists and 2.86 digs per set with a .395 hitting percentage; registered a triple-double against Notre Dame on Nov. 3 with 11 kills, 32 assists and 14 digs.
Milica Krstojevic, St. John’s, Sr., MB
Krstojevic averaged 3.12 kills and 1.00 blocks per set with a .538 hitting percentage in two matches.
