THE GAME
Saturday’s game will be the first meeting between Cincinnati and Temple since 2003 and will be the 15th matchup between the schools … The teams met annually from 1973 through 1985, with the exception of the 1977 season, then played a two-game series in 2002 and 2003 … Temple holds a 9-4-1 series lead, though Cincinnati won the two most recent meetings, including a 30-24 decision in three overtimes in 2003 … Saturday’s game will be the first in the series to be played at Lincoln Financial Field.

Cincinnati rebounded from a two-game losing streak with a 35-24 win against Syracuse last Saturday … The two losses were by a combined nine points, including a 34-31 setback to Louisville in overtime Oct. 26 … The Bearcats have averaged 34.2 points per game to lead the BIG EAST … RB George Winn leads the BIG EAST in rushing at 112.1 yards per game … Winn has rushed for 897 yards and seven touchdowns and is averaging 5.9 yards per carry … QB Munchie Legaux is seventh in the conference in passing (214.5 ypg), but QB Brendon Kay finished the game against Syracuse, completing all three of his passes, including a touchdown … RB Ralph David Abernathy IV is averaging 142.5 all-purpose yards per game, good for third in the conference … WR Kenbrell Thompkins has 23 catches for 338 yards, while WR Damon Julian and TE Travis Kelce have a team-high four touchdown receptions each … LB Greg Blair has a league-high 91 tackles to go with 1.5 sacks, 4.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions and four pass breakups.

Temple fell to 2-3 in BIG EAST play after a 45-17 loss at Louisville … The Owls won their first two BIG EAST games for the first time in league history, defeating USF and Connecticut, but have dropped three straight … A Temple win would give the Owls three BIG EAST victories for just the second time in league history (1997) … RB Montel Harris ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in rushing (82.6 yards per game) … Harris has rushed for 578 yards and five touchdowns and has started each of the last five games … QB Chris Coyer, who ranks eighth in the BIG EAST in total offense (162.5 ypg), has thrown eight touchdown passes against three interceptions … RB Matt Brown leads the BIG EAST in all-purpose yardage (150.0 ypg) … LB Tyler Matekevich, a true freshman, has started each of the last five games and has had double-digit tackles each time …Matekevich is fourth in the BIG EAST in tackles (66, 8.2 per game) … K/P Brandon McManus leads the BIG EAST in punting with an average of 44.4 yards per punt … McManus is also one of the top kickers in the conference and is fifth in the league in scoring (6.6 points per game).
