THE GAME
Saturday’s game will be just the third meeting between Syracuse and Missouri as the Orange look to remain unbeaten against the Tigers … Syracuse was a 41-9 winner at the Carrier Dome in 1986 and the Orange prevailed 24-13 in Columbia, Mo., in 1987 … The win for Syracuse in 1987 was part of the Orange’s unbeaten team (11-0-1) that finished No. 4 in the final Associated Press poll.

Syracuse improved to 4-2 in the BIG EAST with a 45-26 win against No. 11/10 Louisville at the Carrier Dome last week … Syracuse still has a chance to win the BIG EAST’s Bowl Championship Series bid — the Orange would get the nod if they finish tied with Louisville at 5-2 in conference play … The Orange are 5-0 when they have had fewer, or the same number of turnovers as their opponent and 0-5 when they have lost the turnover battle … Syracuse is ranked 24th nationally in total offense (469.8 ypg), 20th in passing offense (301.9 ypg) and leads the BIG EAST in both categories … QB Ryan Nassib is the BIG EAST individual leader in passing (309.1 ypg) and is ranked 11th nationally … Nassib has thrown for 3,019 yards and 21 touchdowns on 241-of-380 passing … Nassib holds the BIG EAST career record with 738 completed passes … RB Jerome Smith is third in the BIG EAST in rushing (87.5 ypg) … Smith has rushed for 875 yards and two touchdowns … WR Alec Lemon leads the BIG EAST in receiving yards (82.8 ypg) … Lemon has 53 catches for 745 yards and five touchdowns … S Shamarko Thomas has a team-high 72 tackles with two interceptions … DE Brandon Sharpe has 5.5 sacks and 13.0 tackles for loss … Sharpe ranks third in the BIG EAST in sacks and is tied for the lead in tackles for loss.

Missouri got back to the .500 mark with a 51-48 win in four overtime periods at Tennessee Saturday … The Tigers trailed by two touchdowns midway through the third quarter before forcing OT on a 25-yard touchdown pass on a fourth-and-12 play …  Missouri has won a modern school-record 18 straight home games against nonconference opponents … The last loss at home to a nonconference opponent was a 45-35 setback to New Mexico in 2005 … Tiger head coach Gary Pinkel is 25-2 in nonconference home games at Missouri … QB James Franklin has thrown for 1,283 yards and eight touchdowns with seven interceptions and has completed 57.8 percent of his passes (122 of 211) … RB Kendial Lawrence has 10 rushing touchdowns to go with an average of 81.9 yards per game … WR Marcus Lucas leads a deep group of receivers with 39 catches for 406 yards and three touchdowns … LB Sheldon Richardson has a team-high 70 tackles to go with four sacks … LB Will Ebner also has 70 stops and a team-leading 10.5 tackles for loss.
