Climbing the Charts
Rutgers senior Monique Oliver swatted her 148th career block in a 56-52 victory against George Washington, moving her into a tie for fifth all-time at Rutgers with former Scarlet Knight Tammy Sutton-Brown (1997-2001). Tanya Hansen ranks fourth all-time on the Scarlet Knights’ blocks list with 245 career rejections.
Syracuse senior Kayla Alexander recorded a near-triple-double with 20 points, seven rebounds and eight blocks in the Orange’s 80-39 win at Saint Joseph’s on Nov. 20. She ran her career points total to 1,536, passing Felisha Legette (1,526) for fourth all-time at Syracuse.
Syracuse Getting Board with Opponents
In Syracuse’s third-straight road win, the Orange posted an 80-39 win against Saint Joseph’s on Nov. 20. SU held a 61-31 rebounding advantage. It was SU’s first game of 60-plus rebounds since grabbing 63 against Coppin State on Dec. 10, 2011.
Against the Rankings
No. 2/2 Connecticut defeated No. 16/13 Texas A&M 81-50 on Nov. 18. Junior Stefanie Dolson led Connecticut in the win against Texas A&M, scoring 24 points, while grabbing six rebounds and dishing out five assists. The 31-point setback marked head coach Gary Blair’s worst home loss since he began coaching Texas A&M in 2003. No. 5/5 Notre Dame will play at No. 19/22 UCLA on Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. ET. The Irish are coming off a 93-36 victory at home against Mercer on Nov. 20.
DePaul Reaching for 90s
The Blue Demons had five double-digit scorers in a 95-80 win at home against Yale on Nov. 19. DePaul is 51-1 when scoring 90 points and has won its last 51 games when reaching the 90-point mark. The Blue Demons are averaging 81.7 points in games that they have won this season.
Berenato Three Away from Milestone
With the Panthers third-straight win, a 65-39 victory at home against Wagner, head coach Agnus Berenato captured her 155th win at Pittsburgh – just three shy of tying the women’s basketball program mark for victories at the school.
Five Undefeated Teams Remaining
The BIG EAST has five undefeated teams in the standings: Connecticut (2-0), Notre Dame (4-0), Louisville (4-0), USF (3-0) and Syracuse (4-0). The No. 7/6 Cardinals take on undefeated Gonzaga (5-0) on Wednesday night, while the No. 5/5 Irish take on No. 19/22 UCLA (2-0) on Friday afternoon.
