Another busy week in the BIG EAST gets underway Monday with three games. Notre Dame is at home against Chicago State on ESPNU, USF visits Stetson, while Marquette hosts UMBC on the BIG EAST Network.
The BIG EAST has four teams ranked in both of this week’s top-25 polls. Louisville fell to No. 5 in the Associated Press poll and No. 6 in the USA Today poll after a close loss to Duke in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. Syracuse is one spot behind the Cardinals in the AP poll and one spot ahead in the USA Today ranking.
Cincinnati has moved up to the No. 17/16 spots in the polls after the Bearcats won the Global Sports Classic title. Georgetown cracks the top 25 for the first time this season after battling top-ranked Indiana to the wire in last week’s Progressive Legends Classic.
The end of the week is highlighted by the SEC-BIG EAST Challenge, as 12 BIG EAST teams take on their counterparts from the Southeastern Conference at home arenas. Four games will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with all games carried on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU. The BIG EAST won eight of the 12 games in the 2011 event.
