Cincinnati ended the 2012 calendar year the same way it began it — with a road win against Pittsburgh in the Bearcats’ BIG EAST opener.
Cincinnati, which was a 66-63 winner against the Panthers on New Year’s Day, closed 2012 with a 70-61 victory Monday on New Year’s Eve, giving the Bearcats an early head start in the race for the BIG EAST title.
Syracuse, meanwhile, played its last nonconference game of the regular season as the Orange cruised to a 96-62 win against Central Connecticut. It was the 902nd career win for Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim, who tied Bob Knight for second on the all-time chart.
Tuesday’s schedule lists one BIG EAST game to kick off 2013 as Connecticut visits Marquette at 8 p.m. ET on ESPNU. The Huskies have won four straight entering the game, but will play their first true road date of the season. The Golden Eagles, who look for their third straight win, have gone 7-0 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
