In Thursday’s only BIG EAST contest, Rutgers held off visiting USF 70-67. Forward Wally Judge made 7-of-8 shots from the floor for a team-high 14 points. The Scarlet Knights committed a season-low six turnovers. At 3-2 in league play, Rutgers has its best five-game BIG EAST start since 1999-2000.
Saturday’s schedule is full with seven league contests. At noon ET, Connecticut plays at Pittsburgh on ESPN2 while DePaul hosts St. John’s in the BIG EAST Network Game of the Week.
Two games tip off at 4 p.m. — Syracuse at Louisville on ESPN and Villanova at Providence on the BIG EAST Network. Louisville is No. 1 in this week’s national polls. The Cardinals have won 11 straight games. The Orange are sixth in both polls and have won six straight.
In the evening, USF, still in search of its first league win, hosts Georgetown. Marquette puts its 4-0 BIG EAST mark on the line at Cincinnati on ESPNU. Notre Dame tries to bounce back from a pair of losses when it hosts Rutgers.
