As the halfway point of conference play nears, a competitive league has produced a logjam in the middle of the BIG EAST standings. Four teams enter Wednesday’s action tied for fifth in the league at 4-3 in BIG EAST play.
All four of the 4-3 teams will be in action Wednesday with a chance to move into a tie for third place in the league. The winner of Wednesday’s game between Villanova and Notre Dame will be one of those teams as the Wildcats look for their third straight win, while the Irish look to reclaim what has been the BIG EAST’s best home court advantage in recent years.
Cincinnati hosts Rutgers at 7 p.m. on the BIG EAST Network and SNY. The Bearcats are 4-3 in BIG EAST play, but have gone just 1-2 at Fifth Third Arena. The Scarlet Knights, who won three of their first five league games, look to snap a three-game slide.
Georgetown is 4-3 in league play and the Hoyas just missed appearing in this week’s top-25 poll after winning a pair of games last week. Georgetown hosts Seton Hall at 7 p.m. on the BIG EAST Network as the Pirates look for their third conference win.
St. John’s has won its last four BIG EAST games to move into third place in the league standings. The Red Storm, who have already won three BIG EAST road games, head to Rosemont, Ill., to face DePaul. The Blue Demons look for their first home win in league play and hope to snap a four-game losing streak.
