Ten of the 15 BIG EAST teams enter this week with winning records in league play, setting the stage for a tight home stretch to the regular season.
A key game at the top of the standings takes place tonight as part of ESPN’s Big Monday series. Marquette, which is tied for first at 8-2 in BIG EAST play, visits Georgetown, which sits a game out of first place at 7-3 in the league. The home team has won the last four games in the series.
Syracuse and Pittsburgh became the first two BIG EAST teams to reach 20 wins this season. The 20-win mark has bode well for league teams. Since the 1982-83 season, when the conference first received an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, 146 of the 151 BIG EAST teams with at least 20 wins reached the NCAA tournament (96.7 percent).
