No. 4 Louisville (3-1) beat Eastern Kentucky (1-3) 17-6 in its home opener at the newly-renovated Jim Patterson Stadium. The Cardinals were led by outfielder Adam Engel, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored. Junior Dace Kime took the win, striking out five and allowing just three hits in four innings.
BIG EAST Baseball Notes
- Connecticut competed in the longest game so far this season on Feb. 16, earning a 4-3 win over Indiana in 15 innings. The game lasted four hours and 58 minutes.
- Pittsburgh swept Wichita State last week in Wichita. The Shockers haven’t been swept at home in 43 years.
- The Panthers opened their season 3-0, Pittsburgh’s best start since 2002
- Rutgers will not play at home until April 2. The Scarlet Knights will play nearly the first half of their schedule on the road.
