PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore outfielder Emilee Koerner of Notre Dame was selected BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week and junior Caralisa Connell of Louisville was named BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week in the third weekly awards of the 2013 season.
Koerner led the Fighting Irish to a 4-0 week. The sophomore went 11-for-14 with two doubles, one triple, two home runs, a stolen base, nine RBI and six runs scored. She batted .786 with a 1.500 slugging percentage and .733 on-base percentage. She went 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored against Liberty on Feb. 23 and hit the game-tying home run in the bottom of the seventh inning against Fairfield on Feb. 24, which led to a walk-off home run from teammate Laura Winter.
Connell was 4-0 last week with two complete-game, one-hit shutouts. The junior allowed one earned run on six hits in 20.1 innings pitched. She struck out 28 batters and gave up a .095 batting average to opponents.

Hit .400 (6-for-15) with a 1.000 slugging percentage and .571 on-base percentage in a 4-1 week. Totaled two home runs and three doubles.

Hit .429 (6-for-14) with two home runs and seven RBI to record a 1.071 slugging percentage.
Amanda Marquez, Villanova, Sr., C
Was 7-of-15 (.467) with a .933 slugging percentage and .556 on-base percentage in a 4-1 week.
Kate Poppe, Villanova, Fr., P
Went 4-0 with a 0.58 ERA and 39 strikeouts. Struck out 15 batters in a 5-0 win against Albany on Feb. 22.
