BIG EAST Baseball Statistics
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Notre Dame right-handed pitcher Adam Norton was named BIG EAST Baseball Pitcher of the Week and USF outfielder James Ramsay was named BIG EAST Baseball Player of the Week for their play during the first week of March.
Norton earned BIG EAST pitching weekly honors after throwing a complete game against No. 25 Virginia Tech in a 3-0 victory. The senior allowed just four hits and one walk with five strikeouts. Norton recorded his third win this season and the second complete game among league pitchers.
Ramsay earned league player of the week honors after hitting the walk-off triple to beat Toledo 9-8 and win the series. The junior hit a home run in the seventh inning, closing the gap to 6-2 for the Bulls. USF scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to win. In the series he went 6-for-14 with six RBI.
Forrest Perron, Cincinnati, Fr., IF
Perron went 5-for-10 with seven RBI, five runs scored, two doubles and two steals in a 3-0 week for the Bearcats.
LJ Mazzilli, Connecticut, Sr., 2B
Mazzilli tallied five RBI with two doubles and a triple in a 3-0 week, going 7-for-12.
Chad Green, Louisville, Jr., RHP
Green allowed just one run and six hits in six innings in a 14-2 win over Kent State.
Sutton Whiting, Louisville, So., SS
Whiting hit .500 with five RBI, five stolen bases and a triple in four games last week for the Cardinals.
Trey Mancini, Notre Dame, Jr., 1B
Mancini went 5-for-13, including a two-run home run against No. 25 Virginia Tech in a 3-1 week at the Irish Classic.
