Georgetown played the only BIG EAST game on Thursday’s slate, dropping a 3-0 decision to Coastal Carolina in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The game marked the first of five games at the Coastal Carolina Tournament. Freshman Molly Morrison led the team offensively with a 2-for-3 performance from the plate.
There are 16 BIG EAST games scheduled for today. Providence and Villanova start early this morning at the Under Armour Showcase Tournament in Clearwater, Fla. against Saint Joseph’s and Toledo respectively. Both games to start at 10 a.m.
The remaining games this weekend will be played in Arizona, California, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland and South Carolina. After Sunday, there is only one more weekend full of nonconference tournaments before BIG EAST play begins March 23.
Junior Katie Keller of Louisville was named the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division 1 Player of the Week and became the first player in program history to earn USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Week honors, as announced March 5.
